Gained the Prize

In every city the Lord was preaching
Showing the glad news of God’s teaching
And certain women whom the Lord God had healed
With much people were gathered together in a field
The Lord spoke to them concerning God’s Word
This is what he said to them about how different men heard

There are those who hear by the wayside
Then cometh the devil, and back they slide

There are those which are on the rock and they stay
They believe for awhile, then they fall away

There are those going forth and having heard
But the cares of this life grow thick and choke out God’s Word

But on the good ground of a heart, and honest man has made a start
Brought forth God’s fruit as one who’s wise
With patience he has gained the prize, gained the prize
